WABL PLAYING FIELDS

Below you will find information about and directions to the playing fields and facilities the West Akron Baseball & Softball League uses.
  
    

FIRESTONE STADIUM
Originally opened in 1925, Firestone Stadium has been a traditional hotbed of softball and baseball activity in the Akron area. The stadium has been home to various teams and events since its opening, and most recently served as the home field of the Akron Racers and the Ohio Pride of the Women's Pro Softball League. The complex underwent a major renovation in 1998 and now has a capacity of 4,000.
    


ESSEX FIELD
The location of Essex Field is unique, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, and near Firestone Field. The playing fields are located behind Essex Elementary School and adjoin the wooded grounds of Akron's famed Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. Essex is minutes away from Sand Run Metropolitan Park and The Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. The Metro Park's Seiberling Naturealm is also nearby. While the setting may seem suburban or even park-like, the field is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


FIRESTONE FIELD
The location of Firestone Field should be easy to find. The playing field is located right next to Litchfield Middle School and Firestone High School. Firestone Field is right down the street from Essex Field, and is just minutes away from Sand Run Metropolitan Park and The Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. The Metro Park's Seiberling Naturealm is also nearby. While the setting may seem suburban, the field is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


SHATTO FIELD
The location of Shatto Field is located right next to the Northwest Family Recreation Center on Shatto Ave. Shatto Field is near Wallhaven, West Market St., and is just minutes away from Fairlawn and Summit Mall. While the setting may seem suburban, the field is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


RESNIK FIELD (Formerly Fairlawn Field)
The location of Judith A. Resnik Field is located right in front of Judith A. Resnik Community Learning Center (formerly Fairlawn Elementary School), just off of West Market St. Resnik Field is almost in Fairlawn, and minutes away from Summit Mall and Montrose. While the setting may seem suburban, the field is only a 20 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


CASE FIELD
The location of Case Field is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, near Hardesty Park and Firestone Field. The playing fields are located behind Case Elementary School on Garman Rd. Case is minutes away from Wallhaven, West Point Market, and Swensons. While the setting may seem suburban, the field is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


HARDESTY FIELD
The location of Hardesty Field is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, in Hardesty Park at Wallhaven. Hardesty Park is just down the street from Case Elementary and Our Lady of the Elms, plus is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from West Point Market and Swensons. The field is still only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


PERKINS FIELD
The location of The Perkins Field Complex is located right behind & on the side of Perkins Middle School located on the corner of Mull Ave. and South Hawkins Ave. Perkins Field #1, #2, and #3 are also a stones throw away from Forest Lodge Field and St. Sebastian's. The Perkins Field Complex is also right around the corner from J. Edward Good Park Golf Course. Perkins is minutes away from Wallhaven, West Point Market, and Swensons. While the setting is suburban, the area is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


FOREST LODGE FIELD
The location of Forest Lodge Field is located in Forest Lodge Park on the corner of South Hawkins Ave. and Jefferson Ave. Forest Lodge Field is also a stones throw away from Forest Lodge Community Center, Perkins Middle School and St. Sebastian's. Forest Lodge is also right near J. Edward Good Park Golf Course. Forest Lodge is minutes away from Wallhaven, West Point Market, and Swensons. While the setting is suburban, the field is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center. Lastly, Forest Lodge is one of the locations the WABL used part of its 2003 grant from from the City of Akron Neighborhood Partnership Program valued at $5000.
    


ERIE ISLAND FIELD
The location of The Erie Island Field Complex is located in Erie Island Park on Peckham Street. The Park & Complex is a stones throw away from Erie Island School. Erie Island is also very close to J. Edward Good Park Golf Course, and is minutes away from shopping and restaurants. While the setting is suburban, the area is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


BUCHTEL FIELD
The location of Buchtel Field should be easy to find. The playing field is located right behind Buchtel High School, on Copley Road. Buchtel is practically down the street from Erie Island, is very close to J. Edward Good Park Golf Course, and is minutes away from shopping and restaurants. While the setting is suburban, the area is only a 10 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


CASCADE FIELD
The location of The Cascade Field Complex is unique, tucked away quietly in the Cascade Valley Park and across the street from Valley View Golf Club. The playing fields are scattered within the park, but remain fairly close the the road, and the majority are lit for night play. Cascade Valley is minutes away from Sand Run Metropolitan Park and The Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. The Metro Park's Seiberling Naturealm is also nearby. While the setting is deep in the park area, the field is only a 10 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


JEWISH CENTER FIELD
The Jewish Community Center of Akron is a cornerstone of the area Jewish population, but opens its doors to the entire community. The JCC is very close to J. Edward Good Park Golf Course, and is minutes away from shopping and restaurants. While the setting is suburban, the center is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


ROLLING ACRES FIELD
The location of the Rolling Acres Field should be easy to find. The playing field is located right behind Spitzer Dodge, off of Wooster Ave. & I-77. And is minutes away from Rolling Acres Mall, shopping, and restaurants. While the setting is suburban, the field is only a 15 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


SUMMIT LAKE FIELD
The location of The Summit Lake Field Complex should be easy to find. The complex is located right by I-77 & Rt. 59. The Summit Lake Field Complex is located in Clearview Park, on Summit Lake and the Ohio Canal. While the setting is somewhat urban, you still have a great view of the lake and canal, and the comlex is only a 5 minute ride from Akron's downtown cultural center.
    


HERBRICH FIELD
The location of The Herbrich Field Complex should be easy to find. The complex is located behind Herbrich School on the corner of Smith Rd. & Corunna Ave.
    


EVERETT FIELD
The location of The Everett Field Complex is on the south side of Everett Rd., in the Bath Baseball Park located at 4600 Everett Road, Bath, OH 44210. The complex is on Everett Rd. @ 2 miles west of North Cleveland-Massillon Rd. / Brecksville Rd.
    


PATTERSON FIELD
The location of The Patterson Avenue Sports Complex (PSC) should be fairly easy to find. The North Akron complex is located at the intersection of Patterson Ave. and E. Cuyahoga Falls Ave.
    


GOODYEAR HEIGHTS FIELD
The location of The Goodyear Heights Field Complex is in the Goodyear Heights Metro Parks on Eastwood Ave. near Darrow Rd. (St. Rt. 91).
    


DOUBLE PLAY FIELD
The location of Double Play Field is in the Double Play Entertainment Complex on the corner of Darrow Rd. (St. Rt. 91) and Norton Rd. in Hudson.
    


LIONS CLUB FIELD
The location of Lions Club Field is in Lions Club Park on the left hand side of Northeast Ave. (St. Rt. 261) just off Tallmadge Circle in Tallmadge.
    


HOWE FIELD
The location of Howe Field is in the Jaycee Howe Road Park on the right hand side of Howe Rd. just east of Northeast Ave. (St. Rt. 261) in Tallmadge.
    


YOUTH FIELD
The location of Youth Field is on Ridge Rd. (St. Rt. 94) between Center Rd. (St. Rt. 303) and Bellus Rd. The field is on the west hand side of Ridge Rd. in Hinckley Township (Medina County). The field is not visible from the road, so look for a dirt road and a sign that's slightly larger than a real estate sign, marked Youth Field.
    


GRANGER FIELD
The location of Granger Field is in Granger Township Park on the east side Ridge Rd. (St. Rt. 94) to the side and rear of the Granger Fire Station in Medina County.
    


HIGHLAND MIDDLE FIELD
The location of Highland Middle Field is at Highland Middle School on the west side of Ridge Rd. (St. Rt. 94), park at Granger Elementary School.
    


SHARON FIELD
The location of Sharon Field is at the Sharon Community Center located on the west side of Ridge Rd. (St. Rt. 94), 5/8 of a mile south of Sharon-Copley Rd. (St. Rt. 162) just past the Hunting Ridge Veterinary Clinic loacated at 6630 Ridge Road, Sharon Center, OH.
    


RISING VALLEY FIELD
The location of Rising Valley Field is in Rising Valley Park located on the corner of Oviatt Rd. and Newton Rd. in Richfield.
